Lakota Park Board

The Lakota Park Board operates the Lakota City Park nestled in the center of town. The one block park features a lighted tennis court, basketball court, playground equipment, picnic shelter and numerous picnic tables and a pool on the northwest corner of the block.

The City Swimming Pool has been updated and well-maintained over the years.  The pool is operated during the summer months from early June to late August.  Sessions of Red Cross swimming lessons for all ability levels are offered along with adult lessons, Lifeguard Training, and Water Safety Instructor courses.

The City Park is the setting for the annual Turkey Barbecue sponsored by the Lakota Community Club on the third Friday in June. The evening always features a lot of good food, entertainment, and other activities happening around town over the entire weekend. The Turkey Barbecue is a common backdrop for Class Reunions and family reunions.

In addition to the pool and its activities, the Park Board sponsors several youth baseball teams. The t-ball team plays at Stump Lake park 12 miles south of Lakota.  The Little league and Softball teams play in the Devils Lake league.
