Lakota Municipal Utilities
Lakota is one of 12 cities in North Dakota who operate a municipal electric utility. We get the majority of our power from Western Area Power Administration, a federal power agency and the rest from Missouri River Energy Services, a joint action agency with 60 members in 4 states.
In addition we offer water and sewer utilities. We currently contract for trash pick-up and include that item on our utility bills for the convenience of the residents. Read on for more information about the electrical rates we offer (one of the lowest in the state) or the water and sewer rates and meet the employees who run and maintain these services.
